Lake Manyara, Tanzania (3°19’55.19” S 35°38’23.00”E) was our first “game drive” on the way from the Onsea Hotel in Arusha, to our next stop, the Plantation Lodge in Karatu, near to Ngorogoro.
Lake Manyara was a good place to start, kind of a “safari lite.” We did a lot of oohing and aahing this day over animals we soon learned we would see everywhere we went: baboons, zebras, wildebeest, impala. But it was still pretty amazing to see these animals freely roaming around, in larger numbers than I expected, unperturbed by our presence.

The last two images are of the Manyara monkey. I needed to do some Googling to identify it, and I discovered that it was only very recently (2020) identified as it’s own sub species of the “gentle monkey” (Cercopithecus mitis)
